A Deacon and Darlene Vlog

The only thing that Deacon loves more than his ball is being on 'squirrel watch' and sometimes a bit of cheese.  I thought it would be fun to show him for the action man that he is as he's still trying to recover some dignity after the pinny episode.

  1. What a talented guy! The high five was the best. I do hope he got a treat or a nice long walk after his performance. Did you train him yourself? Between this and the pinny episode he has shown himself to be quite versatile (and a good sport!).

  3. Isn't he gorgeous! I've never seen a dog high-five before :-) He is bigger and hairier than I thought - so handsome and such a sweetie! Thank you for sharing.

  4. Oh WOW! I love Deacon! He is such a smart dog the way he has you trained like that! By the way HE wasn't finished playing ball! The look on his face was like, 'where you going now'? I hope you show us more sometime.

  5. What a great dog! I've been following your blog ever since the famous pinny episode. Of course I come here for the book chat, but I admit to having a bit of a crush on Deacon!

  6. Awww, that was such a wonderful video! I had to watch it without sound (am at work) but I think I got the gist :)

I am also impressed by your very tidy living room - did you hoover just before?!

  7. Danielle, Oh the life that boy leads, playing and walks in the park all throughout the day. I've taught him those little tricks but I'm always saying 'if I could just get him to start dinner'!

ramblingfancy, He is such good company, Donna, and makes me laugh every day...not a fan of any time I spend reading though!

Cristina, His winter coat is at its peak so he's very full at the moment, loads of it will be in my vacuum canister soon!

Rob, Hahaha...too true! If he's not napping then we're playing but it's never enough for Deacon!

Laura, Well in that case I will be sure to give him cuddle for you! He's flopped out under my chair at the moment...we've just had a big game of tug.

  9. Well done, Deacon! Zelda can only aspire to your repertoire...the high-five is the best. Don't worry, no one will ever think of the pinny episode after this performance.

  10. Hahaha like Verity I thought - wow - that is a VERY clean carpet!

NOW onto the star of the show! What a gorgeous boy Deacon is and so talented! You have trained him so well - loved the high five especially! You can tell just how much you two adore each other. It's just lovely! :)

And so are you! So wonderful to see you in the flesh with your lovely shoes and great hair and smily happy voice!

  11. verity, I worked Sunday as well *sigh*. The clip without sound was probably a good thing at the library!
Hahaha! Everyone says my house is so clean but believe me, I can find some dirt for you.

StuckInABook, Deacon makes me laugh every day...and so did you being able to pick out my Persephone shelf!

JoAnn, But Zelda would leave Deacon behind in her dusty wake if they were to race!

bookssnob, I have to vacuum every other day at the very least having a dog in the house. When I empty my canister it looks like Marge Simpson's hair!

Since I was letting people into my house I thought it best to tidy up but Hunters and hoodies are my usual attire when we're just hanging out. No Hunters on THAT carpet though! Glad you enjoyed the show, Rachel!

  12. I love your dog even more now. I know Border Collies are smart as all get out, I wonder if we could ever get Lucy to be so well trained.

  13. Thomas, Absolutely you could! Go slowly, be patient and use a treat she would do anything for...it was bits of boiled weiner for Deacon. If you praise her to the rooftop when she does what you want she will catch on pretty quickly that it's a good thing.

  14. I had to listen to this w/out sound, too, and stifle my laughs. SUCH a good dog! I like the way his backside wriggled as he impatiently waited for the ball. :)
