S'no Haven Scarf
This alpaca has waited a very long time to appear as a useful item. It was purchased over twenty years ago. On New Year's Eve, I was was standing in a wool shop, trying to decide between three colours. The shop owner made an announcement that she would be closing in ten minutes! A woman cannot make a decision in such a short time...at least not this one. Later that evening, putting away some Christmas decorations, I found a bag with six balls of lovely soft alpaca. Too little for a sweater but perfect for a generous scarf. I call this one S'no Haven as I adapted a pattern called Haven but it's not quite exact. Serendipity is a lovely thing.

That's absolutely gorgeous. Your knitting is to die for. I keep admiring my beautiful scarf and wishing for slightly warmer weather so I'm not wearing such thick jumpers that it doesn't fit over so well!
ReplyDeleteThis is such a gorgeous sharf. I am envious of your knitting skills - I wish that I could knit.
ReplyDeleteThat is just lovely. I've always thought Haven was too wide - your S'no Haven is a much nicer size!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful pattern! It reminds me of a throw I made many years ago, but looks even more lovely in a smaller scale as a scarf.
ReplyDeleteverity, Thank you...we're on the right side of winter now so warmer weather is just around the corner.
ReplyDeleteA Bookish Space, If you lived closer then I could teach you!
madedoandread, Haven is a very chunky knit isn't it. There's no reason why you can't knit it up in a finer material but I did add another repeat for width. And thank you!
JoAnn, Oh, I really like the thought of this as a throw pattern! Super idea for a future project!
Now that is lovely. Delicate, but with alpaca to keep you warm. Perfect!
ReplyDeleteThat's beautiful! You are such a talented knitte--it really is very delicate. And you waited for just the right moment and pattern to use the wool.
ReplyDelete..that would be knitter..
ReplyDeleteWhat a lovely scarf!
ReplyDeleteFleurFisher, Thank you! Alpaca is just the thing for scarves and hats.
ReplyDeleteDanielle, It pays to hoard a little wool every now and then.
skirmishofwit, I can't wait to see your scarf project completed, it's going to be so pretty!
That scarf was meant to be! So gorgeous. I'm just in awe of your knitting skills. K x
ReplyDeleteSo pretty and such delicate stitches. Isn't it nice when you find something unexpected!

Kristina, It really was! I've learned to just jump in, it's really a matter of one row at a time...no fear knitting.
ReplyDeleteCottage Garden, Very nice indeed.
I must say, how fortunate I am to have the opportunity to see, first hand, all of your beautifully knitted projects. Always a treat to admire all your knitting abilities, Darlene...and thanks for the encouragement on my cabled socks!
ReplyDeleteSharon, Russian spies should never admit to such domestic abilities...but you're welcome!
