S'no Haven Scarf

This alpaca has waited a very long time to appear as a useful item. It was purchased over twenty years ago. On New Year's Eve, I was was standing in a wool shop, trying to decide between three colours. The shop owner made an announcement that she would be closing in ten minutes! A woman cannot make a decision in such a short time...at least not this one. Later that evening, putting away some Christmas decorations, I found a bag with six balls of lovely soft alpaca. Too little for a sweater but perfect for a generous scarf. I call this one S'no Haven as I adapted a pattern called Haven but it's not quite exact. Serendipity is a lovely thing.

  1. That's absolutely gorgeous. Your knitting is to die for. I keep admiring my beautiful scarf and wishing for slightly warmer weather so I'm not wearing such thick jumpers that it doesn't fit over so well!

  3. That is just lovely. I've always thought Haven was too wide - your S'no Haven is a much nicer size!

  4. What a beautiful pattern! It reminds me of a throw I made many years ago, but looks even more lovely in a smaller scale as a scarf.

  5. verity, Thank you...we're on the right side of winter now so warmer weather is just around the corner.

A Bookish Space, If you lived closer then I could teach you!

madedoandread, Haven is a very chunky knit isn't it. There's no reason why you can't knit it up in a finer material but I did add another repeat for width. And thank you!

JoAnn, Oh, I really like the thought of this as a throw pattern! Super idea for a future project!

  7. That's beautiful! You are such a talented knitte--it really is very delicate. And you waited for just the right moment and pattern to use the wool.

Danielle, It pays to hoard a little wool every now and then.
