Deacon's Virago Adventure

When Carolyn put out a call to show off your Viragos, I had an idea.  It sounded like a good one at the time.  Sweaty damp patches and a border collie now wary of aprons later...here is a shot of one of my favourite Viragos!  Ta da!

The Virago Book of Food: The Joy of Eating, is full of sumptuous quotes from literary works through the ages by some of the best.  Please do look for it at your bookshop...in the meantime, I need a rest.

  1. I love the idea but something tells me Deacon isn't quite as fond:)

  2. Oh Deacon, what has she done to you?! You look lovely and that is a wonderful book you are posing with, but I suspect that you hate being dressed up as much as Briar does!

  8. I wish you could hear the shrieks of laughter at my house right now. Twin A and I LOVE this!!! Not sure Deacon enjoys being in an apron though ;-)

  11. Oh Darlene - such a funny post. Aren't dogs just the best creatures...what devotion, tolerance and patience is displayed on dear Deacon's visage...such a great dog. What a darling. I'm almost convinced to read that book - though the title alone should be enough to convince me!!

  13. Stacy, He was happy about the turkey soup we shared later though!

fleurfisher, Hahaha...they are good sports though...at least it wasn't a tutu!

Kristina, The look says it all doesn't it. I made it up to him though.

bookssnob, I was laughing my butt off while I was writing the post. And the book is fabulous, Rachel!

Rochester Reader, Isn't that look a scream, what a funny boy.

Carolyn, You did say to be creative....voila!

A Bookish Space, He is tolerant beyond belief because believe me, he is quite the action man!

JoAnn, Oh I am glad you two enjoyed it, I know I did too! That shot is going into his album! Zelda would look fab in something silky with her physique!

Rob, Deacon is such a character I must say! He drives us crazy and makes up laugh every single day.

Laura, Fresh turkey worked wonders. Thanks for stopping by!

Alex, Dogs are just the BEST, I absolutely agree. A video clip of the two of us trying to get that pose would have been a youtube hit. And the book is brilliant too!

Mystica, He didn't have to endure the apron for very long and he loved his treat afterwards.

  15. He looks a bit as if he's plotting to kill you while you sleep. You know, in a really darling way. Great photo!

  16. Else, Oh thank you and yes, it's definitely one for the album.

Heather, Hahahaha! That's it EXACTLY! Thankfully I made it through the night but Deacon may still be plotting. Thanks for the laugh!

  18. Ha, what a good dog to let you tie that apron on him. I do hope he got a treat? It would have been well deserved. :)

  19. Thomas, Oh thank you, I'll tell Deacon you said so. I am a huge fan of brushing and he gets lots of healthy oils in his food and natural peanut butter.

Danielle, I originally had him in the kitchen but when I tapped the counter for him to put his paws on it he tried to jump on top of it! He hated the apron but loved the turkey he was presented with afterwards. He is such a good boy.
