The strawberries are gorgeous this year. We didn't have to move very far along the row to pick two full baskets. R had a bit of an intermission while the farm dog, a chocolate lab named Topper, persisted in smothering him with kisses.
Back at home I got out my mixing bowls and whipped up a pound cake so we could have a yummy dessert. Piling the whipped cream on top of the berries and cake I thought about taking a picture but that would have meant a case of dessertus interruptus.
Haha, that phrase made me laugh! Ken has just informed me that we may have a strawberry ready for picking later today!
ReplyDeleteHaha How do you decide who eats it? Pam
DeleteYum. Being in winter down here now the strawberry season seems just too far behind us and yet too far to come yet. Hope they were good! Pam
ReplyDeleteNothing worse than dessertus interruptus ;-) Hoping to pick our fill of fresh berries today.
ReplyDeleteI have strawberries for my tea too. Think I might make up some pretend double cream to go with them.
ReplyDeleteOh yum, your strawberries look delicious :o)
ReplyDeleteOh I love local strawberries, which is why I don't eat any at all for 11 months of the year, spurning the California imports that have travelled 2/3 of the way across the continent west to east, and about 1/3 up south to north, using up gas and idling at the border.
ReplyDeleteAnd yet some Ontario grocery stores continue to stock California products at the height of local season. Grrrr....
