Kate Greenaway's 'Christmas in Little Peopleton Manor' in Illustrated London News Christmas, 1879
A book meme I first spied on Cornflower's blog and too much fun to pass up!
My Day in Books
I began the day with Incidents in the Rue Laugier.
On my way to work I saw The Other Elizabeth Taylor
and walked by Westwood
to avoid An Episode of Sparrows
but I made sure to stop at The Carlyles at Home.
In the office, my boss said "To the North"
and sent me to research The Way Things Are.
At lunch with Mrs Miniver
I noticed The Tortoise and the Hare
under The Odd Women,
then went back to my desk As It Was.
Later, on the journey home, I bought A Wreath of Roses
because I have The Soul of Kindness,
then settling down for the evening, I picked up Nourishment
and studied The New House
before saying goodnight to The Winds of Heaven.
Another great one! Everyone's very adept at choosing apt titles.
ReplyDeleteLovely! isn't this a great meme.
ReplyDeleteReally good fun this - mine should be up soon.
ReplyDeleteVery good! Like the sparrows!
ReplyDelete'my boss said To The North' indeed! Love it.
ReplyDeletePoor old women! :) This wa a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteGreat answers! I love your journey home.
ReplyDeleteThat's great. Can I play too?
ReplyDeleteI began the day with The Cold Light of Mourning
On my way to work I saw Our Lady of the Lost and Found
and walked by Old City Hall
to avoid Moral Disorder
but I made sure to stop On Green Dolphin Street
In the office, my boss said "One of our Thursdays is missing"
and sent me to research The Charming Quirks of Others
At lunch with The Fair Miss Fortune
I noticed Rivers Running Free
under The Bean Trees
then went back to my desk, A Darker Domain
Later, on the journey home, I bought Water for Elephants
because I have No Time for Romance.
Then settling down for the evening, I picked up The Game
and studied The Language of Bees
before saying goodnight to The Dirty Life
Susan, Glad you joined in! I've had so much fun reading about about everyone's 'Day in Books'. And you made me laugh with your buying water for elephants because you have no time for romance.
ReplyDeleteDarlene, thank you so much for posting this. Your post was the one that alerted me to it. I've had a go at it myself and had so much fun. How is your daughter finding Canterbury? We'll be there on Boxing Day.
ReplyDeleteJoan, Oh, aren't you sweet for asking...she's doing really well! She is so impressed with how wonderful everyone she meets is whether it be in town or at the university and she is extremely happy.
