London

I've booked my flight to London for this May! I probably won't be riding in a black cab and I know that I'm not staying at the Ritz, although I did stay across the street once. But the happiest lady in London will be ME in my single room, hopefully overlooking the garden and not the road, at a B&B in Bloomsbury. The kitchen table will now become 'planning central' with brochures, books and computer print-outs scattered around. Happiness as well is getting to meet up with K from jolly hockey sticks! We'll definitely be stopping by Persephone Books, I think I'm looking forward to that most of all. Marks & Spencers, Fortnum and Mason and museums oh my!

  1. Another fellow blogger off to the Island...I am starting to feel slightly envious. I have to satisfy myself with an English-themed non-fiction five challenge:(
Hope to read about your trip when you return. Happy planning and safe travels.

  2. Book Psmith, Once you've been to London you will come home planning your next trip! Terribly worried about the weight restriction on my luggage and book purchases though.

  3. I can understand your worries about the book buying. We had a connecting flight through Heathrow on our way to the Netherlands...due to bad weather we were marooned at Heathrow for hours. I began buying books at a Heathrow bookstore and didn't stop until I left Holland six weeks later. I had to borrow a suitcase from my grandparents to bring them all home. I don't remember paying extra for the additional suitcase though. I would like to go back someday and see the UK properly.

  9. Am very envious about your upcoming trip! :) How long are you going for? And if you happen to have your camera along, might you be tempted to take a photo of Persephone books? (The next best thing to being there...). If all else fails maybe you can ship some of your books back home? Not as fun as having them with you, but better than not being able to buy them at all!

  11. I look forward to hearing more about your visit as it approaches. When are you actually in London? I pop up now and then, from Oxford, so... might be able to say hello!
Last time I was there I went on a Virginia Woolf pilgrimage around Bloomsbury - wonderful.
