Danielle, over on A Work in Progress, loves books more than anyone I know so it wasn't surprising that she requested a photo of my book purchases (The Priory was a gift from Kristina). So there you are and I couldn't resist sandwiching them between the obligatory tea and mug purchase from Whittard. Enjoy! p.s. - Umm, on further thought Simon, Elaine and Lynne are all fantastically book-obsessed so Danielle has some company.
Thanks for sharing the photo--I'm always curious what books people choose! I think you showed considerable restraint, but still those must have added a little weight to your luggage or carry on! :) Family Roundabout it probably my favorite Persephone, but those all look good and I think I have a few of them on my shelves as well! And One Fine Day is a gorgeous read, too. Which one are you going to read first?
ReplyDeleteOh, and I love the mug and canister. So are you already thinking about your next trip to London? :)
ReplyDeleteDanielle, I would have loved to scoop up so many more books but was conscience of my TBR pile at home which contains four other Persephone titles. Yeah, my carry-on was heavy enough as it was, wouldn't want to chance a burly luggage handler absconding with my Whipple lol! Am I thinking about my next trip? Absolutely! It starts on the flight back to Canada. Which book am I going to read first? I'm reading The Little Stranger just now, then Kristina and I are going to read Saplings for our Bi-Continental book club and THEN I think it has to be Home to Roost by the sublime Duchess herself. Alan Bennet wrote the introduction and I get giddy just thinking about it! I see that you now own Nightingale Wood, if you'd be interested in reading that with me at some point let me know, it sounds swell!
ReplyDeleteNow I think I could give all those book-obsessed people a run for their money! K x
ReplyDeleteKristina, Yes, you're another one with your complete collection of Persephone titles (there, I've outed you!) and many others. My favourite kind of people.
ReplyDeleteOooo, wonderful!
ReplyDeleteWhat a shame I was so disorganised and didn't get up to London for your time there. This dissertation has taken over my life. Doh, as Homer Simpson would say.
What a lovely haul, hope you didn't need too much excess baggage!
Just had a closer look at the titles... some wonderful ones there. Family Roundabout is my favourite Persephone, and I love Greenery Street too. Alas, Poor Lady and A House In The Country are my next two to read..
